Why Settle
If a human is insulted
In even the slightest way
He is ready to fight to the death.
Yet in every aspect of his life
He settles.
His life
Is but a celebration
Of settling.
He settles
In his career.
He settles
In his relationships.
He settles
In the advice he seeks.
He settles
In the friends he makes.
He does this
Because a precedent has been set.
And he follows
The precedent.
Since every other human that he knows settles,
He settles also.
Why would a human
Who is ready to fight to the death
For being insulted in the most casual way,
Accept 273rd best
In every part of his life.
He is ready
To read anything,
Because “he has heard”
That it is a good thing to read.
He is ready
To follow any method,
Because “he has heard”
It is a good method.
He is ready
To invest anywhere,
Because “he has heard”
That it is a good place to invest.
He thinks so little of himself,
This man who is ready to fight to the death
For a slight insult.
He thinks so little of himself,
That he accepts hand-me-downs,
And second and third-rate information and advice
About things that are at the core of his life.
It matters not
If a man has “the best of everything”
Materialistically.
For this is fine and well,
But it will not bring him anything.
“The best of everything”
In the form of knowledge, information, and Truth
Can entirely Transform his life.
He may settle for a faux leather sofa
And not be harmed.
But if he settles
For faux information and advice,
He is doomed.
Man does not think much
Of the one and only life
He has been given.
Namaste.
