On Art And Truth

Of what relevance,

Is it to create a thing

That is not The Highest Art.

Commercialism

Is a poison

That attracts the neophyte

And the hack.

Only a Serious man

Can produce Art.

Art is a thing

That must be protected.

On the whole

It must be protected

From the world.

Though it may be

To varying degrees

Revealed to the world.

A “best-seller list”

Is a list of those things

Which are not Art.

The masses

Do not have the eyes

For Art.

Thus,

If something becomes a “best-seller”

It has the lamentable distinction

Of being sanctioned by those

With feeble standards.

It is far better

To leave Art

Hidden behind lock and key,

Never to be detected

By the light of the world.

If it is revealed

In measured doses

It shall be protected still.

Protected

From the desire

For acclaim.

Protected

From the desire

For “high sales.”

Critics

Are plagued

By their pretentiousness.

And by their pressure and obligation

To “critique.”

The purer the Art,

The more that each “sale”

Brings a measure of pain.

In some ways,

The “sale”

Is an insult

To the Art.

It is infinitely and incalculably

A superior fate

For a man to live destitute.

Than to have his Art

Fall into the hands of those

Who are not Ready for it.

Pure Art

Is Truth.

Truth

Is not

For the masses.

Truth

Is not

A “best-seller.”

Truth

Is the most valuable thing in the universe.

Both materially

And existentially.

For if one possesses The Truth

About any topic or problem,

He has the power

To obtain it.

Truth

Can bring money,

Power,

Bliss,

Success,

Enlightenment,

Whatever a man wishes.

In fact,

It is the Only thing

That can bring a man

Whatever he desires.

Therefore,

It must be protected

And hidden.

Revealed in infinitesimally small doses

To the world.

And slightly more

To those with Readiness.

Truth,

Like Art,

Is beyond all man-made standards.

The purity of its creation

Creates its own standard.

Namaste.
