What Do Superstars And Billionaires Need
Superstars
And billionaires
Are said to have everything.
Wealth.
Notoriety.
Freedom to go anywhere,
Buy anything.
Yet if the lives of superstars
And billionaires are examined,
It is often fraught with a heap of problems
No less intense
Or voluminous
Than those of the common man.
Every human being suffers.
The suffering differs
Only in the details.
Superstar-ness
And billionaire-ness
Is a worldly achievement.
It satisfies
The desire/requirement
To live comfortably
In the world.
The man who is unaccomplished,
Unsuccessful,
And struggling
Will often point to superstars and billionaires
And state that despite their wealth and success,
They are still “miserable and unhappy.”
Such a man
Is a complete fraud.
For though his words
May not be untrue,
His accusation implies
That, in his unaccomplishment and financial struggle,
He has found peace and enlightenment.
Poverty,
As noble as society makes it to be,
Is miserable.
Wealth and success
Harbor miseries of their own.
Running from poverty,
Or running from wealth,
In order to escape misery
Is a no-win proposition.
Misery and suffering
Expresses itself
In various forms.
For some,
It is sorrow.
For some,
It is boredom.
For some,
It is conflict.
For some,
It is envy.
For some,
It is competitiveness.
For some,
It is anxiety and fear.
There is no end
To the forms of suffering and misery.
In this regard,
All humans,
Regardless of status and position,
Are the same.
Before one’s societal mind
Begins to chirp,
“Being the same”
Does not mean “equal.”
There is a same-ness
With regard to a struggle
That all humans face.
But the unaccomplished man
Is NOT the same
As an accomplished one.
The driven man
Is NOT the same
As the lazy one.
Prizes for participation.
And trophies for effort
Are notions
Of a degraded
And fallen society.
Does the superstar
And the billionaire
Truly have “everything?”
They have everything
In the Worldly domain.
They are lacking
In the Human domain.
The Mind
Seeks the worldly domain.
The Heart
Seeks the Human domain.
The mind rejoices
At the wins
And the windfalls.
The heart cries
At the emptiness,
The loneliness,
The conflicts,
The sorrows,
And the fears.
The mind’s celebrations
Fade.
The heart’s cries
Do not.
Therefore,
The presence of suffering
In any of its various forms,
And the actions that it spurs
In order to seek relief from such pains
Demonstrates
A “Need.”
For if the superstar
And the billionaire
Had no need,
He would have a life of peace,
Freedom,
Contentment,
And harmony.
If he does not,
Then this means
That there is clearly a Need.
The Need
Is not something
That the superstar
And the billionaire “should” have.
It is a need
That the superstar and the billionaire’s
Very own heart
Cries out for.
Therefore,
This need
Is not theoretical,
“Healthy,”
Or “correct.”
It is a natural,
Visceral
Longing.
If the superstar
And the billionaire
Recognize this need
They will go out in search of it.
Many, if not most, of them
Have spent years, if not decades,
Doing this very thing.
Many of them
Have hired therapists,
Psychologists,
Psychiatrists,
Life coaches,
Meditation experts,
Spiritual mentors,
And the entire gamut
Of the prescription/method/technique/hack-giving therapeutics
That saturate the world today.
If they have found
What their heart seeks,
Then they must now be living a life of peace,
Freedom,
Contentment,
And harmony.
If they have not found
What their heart seeks,
Despite years of effort and searching,
Then they do not live a life of peace,
Freedom,
Contentment,
And harmony.
If they still live a life of anxiety,
Pain,
Sorrow,
Boredom,
And fear . . .
Then their heart
Continues to cry out.
Truth
Lies in the realization
That such modalities and therapeutics
Can never provide
And end to anxiety, fear, sorrow, and boredom.
Truth
Lies in the realization
That such modalities and therapeutics
Can never provide
A life of peace,
Freedom,
Contentment,
And harmony.
And since virtually no man
Will, in practicality,
Come to this realization,
The superstar
And the billionaire
Will live their entire life
Having had “everything.”
Without having had Anything
At All.
The superstar
And the billionaire
Will have spent their entire lives
Satisfying the endless whims
Of a hungry mind.
But they will die
Without ever having satisfied
The cries of their heart.
Thus,
They will die
Poor
And unaccomplished.
Namaste.
