Waiting For Others
You have been waiting
To be appreciated
For all that you have done
For another.
Has it come.
In fact,
Has scorn perhaps come
In its stead.
You say that you did so much.
You gave so much.
You sacrificed so much.
For years and years and years
You worked and toiled
For the other.
Yet you received nothing,
Perhaps even negativity
In return.
You felt that it was your sacred duty.
You could not think of doing otherwise.
What did you receive
In return.
Did you do it
To receive in return?
You did not.
But something within you
Feels the longing
For a reciprocation
Solely upon the grounds of human decency.
A word.
A phrase.
A gesture.
A smile.
Did it come?
How many years
Have you been waiting for it.
The human
Lives a wounded life.
Because he is good.
But being good . . .
And knowing The Truth . . .
Are two entirely different things.
Namaste.
