On Living A Lie
Every human
Lives a lie.
Much of this is protective.
A self-imposed barrier
Against the inevitable pains of life.
The most sacred of things
Are held preciously
In the human heart.
And life
Does not spare these things.
Thus,
The human
Creates a denial
In order to keep himself
From witnessing the demise
Of the sacred.
There are Truths
That are so painful
That they float deep within the human psyche
Never being allowed to make it to one’s lips.
The human
Lives a life
Of quiet struggle.
He struggles
With the good
And the bad.
He struggles
With having to bear
Things that are too difficult
To bear.
It is foolish
For a man to feel
That he should stop living a lie
For reasons of goodness, rightness, or morality.
Such are but manufactured notions
Devoid of Truth.
The human lives a lie
Because he must.
All things
From relationship to circumstance
Test his abilities of endurance.
The Truth
Is too much.
Because Life
Is too much.
The day he stops living a lie,
He moves toward Freedom.
But this Freedom
Comes at a cost.
And this cost
Is often too heavy
To pay.
Namaste.
