The Futility Of Improving Habits
A habit
Is not born
Of itself.
It is a leaf
On a tree.
A particular tree
Produces a particular habit.
The world and its so-called experts
Teach the masses
To “change their habits.’
And to “improve their habits.”
The Serious man
May ask himself,
If he “practiced”
Creating the habits he has now.
He may ask himself,
If he strategically and intentionally
Developed the habits
He has now.
If he did not strategically and intentionally
Create the habit,
He may ask himself
If it makes sense to strategically and intentionally
“Change” or “improve” them.
Doing so
Will force him to have to “manage” them
Forever.
Which is also what the experts teach:
To manage and manage and manage.
This is one of the reasons why
Man is never at rest.
He is never at peace.
Because he is always in a frenzy.
He is always changing this and that.
He is always trying to prevent the flood
With one hand,
While sweeping out the water
With the other.
And for all of his lifelong efforts
Of “improving” and “changing” his habits,
He still lives in suffering,
Turmoil,
Confusion,
And misery.
To change one’s habits
Is yet another way
For the experts
To make a mule
Out of man.
Namaste.
